If you want a cheap place to stay while in Santa Cruz this is your place.

The streets are probably cleaner than this hotel. We waited 20 minutes to check in, and a staff member finally showed up. We requested a non-smoking room and were given a smoking room. When we asked to transfer rooms, we were scolded and told that the room we had was non-smoking. The smoke in the first room was not only smelt, but seen. It is evident that cleaning before the next occupant arrives is not standard, either. There were burn marks in the carpet, mold growing over the wallpaper in the bathroom and underneath the already used amenities in the room. We could not use the heater because it emitted a horrible chemical smell every time we turned it on. The warm water came in for 6 minutes and then went straight to freezing cold only one of us got to shower before dinner. There were no towels. The pool was so over chlorinated. I was very pleased with the Pacific Inn and if I ever find myself back in Santa Cruz, I would definitely stay here again. The staff was very friendly and efficient. Easy, quick continental breakfast.

The hotel was in a great location so I jumped on the great rate. When we checked in the first room had not been cleaned. The second room we were given had someone else's laptop and alcohol in it. The third room was the charm. ...read more

The service was friendly and personable as well as the room and grounds were clean and kept up. The way the pool is set up, enclosed by the building itself but open to the sky, was not only wonderful, but I did not see any others like it. The hotel was better than expected although there were some weirdoes just hanging around outside all day-evening. The room was great and the complementary breakfast (bagel and cream cheese) was a good added service. Nice place, warm pool, a little far from the boardwalk.

Close enough to walk the Santa Cruz Boardwalk and beach in about 20 minutes. Small continental breakfast. Refrigerator and microwave in the room a plus.

Arrived at hotel at 2:15pm, because check in starts at 2pm. Was told that my room wasn't ready, and it wouldn't be ready until after 4pm. Hotel staff wasn't apologetic at all. Came back after 4pm, and was told that they had no more nonsmoking rooms and would have to have a smoking room instead. Again, no apology! Pool was dirty and bad! Room was cramped and dingy!
